Carlos Maciel “Kijano”
Kijano’s painting is anything but somber. “In a world of horror like the one we live in, I don’t want to add more horror. I want those who see my work to feel that life is worth living,” he explains. His artistic universe is shaped by the female body, dance, music, nature, the indigenous world, reading, sensuality, and power yet all viewed through a festive, vital, and generous lens.
But beyond the figures, forms, and colors, Kijano’s work overflows with a passion for life and the profound meanings of Carlos Maciel the mathematician, the historian, and the philosopher.
