Allec
Exploring the invisible layers of human and natural expression, Allec creates immersive compositions that transcend borders and narratives.
Allec grew up between a port city and a printing press. From Zihuatanejo he inherited the specific light of Mexico’s Pacific coast; from his family’s printing business he inherited an understanding of image as something made by pressure, chemistry, and the patient management of variables. Both things are present in his work, though neither announces itself.
His abstract canvases begin somewhere interior—with music, with memory, with the residue of a particular emotional state—and move toward a surface that holds all of that without explaining it. The gesture is intuitive but the composition is deliberate. Color and texture are distributed across the canvas with the spatial intelligence of someone who understands that a painting is not hung on a wall but placed in a room, and that those are not the same thing.
His photographic practice extends the same sensibility into the landscape of Baja California Sur: unhurried, precise, committed to the quality of light at a specific hour. Both bodies of work are available through Allec Petrescu Art Limited, with representation in Los Cabos, Hong Kong, and Madrid.
